“The story of KC and the Keep Well Kids Club® is one that all the world should read and share with others”
“The KC and the Keep Well Kids Club® book and materials are a fantastic way to teach good health habits and hygiene to kids. My students loved the story and the kits that came with each lesson. They still ask for the book to read when we have free reading time. A great and well designed program.”
I genuinely love and appreciate the book and the program you developed to teach our children the importance of taking care of themselves, their friends and community, as well as our environment. Shiloh absolutely has taken to it. She constantly asks me if what she is eating is healthy (it isn’t always, but we do our best with what we have). She has become even better at remembering to brush her teeth. She asks if we can recycle EVERYTHING. And the little apple in one of the goody bags also works as a stress ball for doctor and dentist visits (she is not very fond of the doctor or dentist so before we had her squeeze a little toy fishy when she got nervous, now we use the apple and bring the fishy as a backup). Thank you
As an internal medicine physician, and I have the pleasure of seeing quite a few patients on a day-to-day basis. It gives me a gentle reminder every day that heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, infections, and even obesity are major causes of medical illnesses and, even at times, death.
However, we actually have a wonderful tool created by the imagination of the lovely Joan Jacobs and the Creative Kids Concepts, of a new product called “KC and Keep Well Kids Club®.” What this does is actually provides an opportunity to start to educate, not only our kids but our adults, of good healthy habits and practices that they can take from their day-to-day lives and actually start to help prevent some of these medical illnesses and concerns. So, what I do is I actually try to create some of these concepts and these discussions in our office, but just me by myself isn’t enough. So what I’m going to ask is that we endorse the help of our physicians, our nurses, our administrators, our teachers, our students, and our parents, as part of this movement and this effort to really start to help create a healthier culture for our not only this generation, but for our future generations to come. I’m sure we can do this, and we can do it one healthy KC Kid at a time. I’d love to be a part of anything that you all have as far as questions or concerns. I’m going to be a part of this movement. I’m going to be an active part of working with Joan Jacobs and this company, so I’m looking forward to you all coming on board and being part of this movement, one generation at a time.
I have been using KC and the Keep Well Kids Club in my 2nd grade classroom for several years now with fidelity. I believe my kiddos learn so much about what it takes to be healthy and stay healthy. They are taught lifelong skills with the mini lessons and overall story in Joan’s book. Students are proud to be part of the Keep Well Kids Club and bring home information to teach their families what they’ve learned. I overheard a couple students telling each other that they wanted to go home and brush their teeth after watching the videos in the Dental Lesson. My kiddos love meeting the author of their book and also get excited when Joan comes into the classroom to visit. I can’t wait to read the sequel that Joan is working on.
I decided to work with Joan and the Keep Well Kids Club because my passion aligned with hers, giving back to her community. Disadvantaged communities lack resources for essential life skills. The Keep Well Kids Club serves that purpose giving back to disadvantaged communities in Lake County by teaching children ages 5-9 healthy lifestyle habits in nutrition, dental hygiene, exercising, and many more subjects. This is a very unique, well-rounded, and dynamic program, engaging and receptive to children. My experience working with this program was very humbling. I was able to come away with great experiences with many students hungry for knowledge. Joan’s passion and generosity, going out of her way to ensure kids learn healthy habits is inspirational.
I wanted to let you know how much my son Matthew enjoyed the Keep Well Kids Club he learned at the After School Program at East Lake. He was very excited today to come home with the ‘keys to good health’ and a sixteen-chapter book! We started reading it tonight. I am very impressed with your story as to how you saw the need for teaching young children to stay healthy and put it into action. Matthew came home today saying “I love being a Keep Well Kid”. Thank you for your enthusiasm and making it fun. He really enjoyed Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Please keep up the good work
