The KC and the Keep Well Kids Club® Program

…is designed to teach children positive health and safety habits in an entertaining way.

WHO IT’S FOR?
The target audience is children 5-9

WHY THIS AGE GROUP?
Research shows that healthy lifestyle habits are most effective when developed at an early age. Our program provides young children with the “Keys to Good Health” at a time when they are most receptive in formulating, understanding and developing their personal habits.

HOW WE DO IT & MAKE IT FUN?
Our goal is to make learning about health and safety enjoyable and entertaining. We have developed colorfully illustrated materials that feature a cast of likable and diverse characters to communicate information in a fun, non-threatening way.
The KC and the Keep Well Kids Club® program has three components:

  • Creative and colorfully illustrated, the Book and study guide– The Story of KC and the Keep Well Kids Club®, The Lost Island of Keytonia – teach how the club was developed and speaks to the importance of good health – healthy kids are happy kids.
  • Activity kits that include short books that center on a single theme such as hygiene, dental care, nutrition, recycling, safety and the importance of family and friends. All are designed to encourage and reward personal responsibility and include incentives like stickers, color sheets, decals and novelties. Each child also receives a Keep Well Kids Club® lanyard to hold the “Key to Good Health” reward card for each subject completed.
  • Keepwellkidsclub.com – An interactive website that includes healthy recipes, games quizzes, exercises and craft projects that reinforce the lessons.

The KC and the Keep Well Kids Club® Program is ideal for use in school and after-school programs, home schools, libraries and clubs and organizations.

Join the movement…Join the fun!

Our communities’ children are facing an epidemic of obesity, diabetes, bullying and low self-esteem. Healthcare costs are escalating. Preventative programs are critical for protecting our children’s physical, mental emotional and social well-being.
Join us as we introduce KC and the Keep Well Kids Club® Program, a uniquely creative and interactive entertainment project designed to motivate and teach positive health habits in the most entertaining way to children, ages 5-9. Research shows that healthy lifestyle habits are most effective when developed at an early age. Our program provides young children with the “Keys to Good Health” at a time when they are most receptive.

The loveable and colorful diverse cast of characters are engaging and make health and safety education simple and fun as children learn personal hygiene, dental care, nutrition, safety, recycling, pet care (in development) and the importance of family and friends. A graduate of UCLA in Sociology, with a 35-year career-base in health care, Joan M. Jacobs is author, entrepreneur and creator of KC and the Keep Well Kids Club® Program. The inspiration for the concept originated in a Northern California rural hospital. As marketing director, Joan studied parents bringing their children to the emergency room for care. While many of the unhealthy habits of the adults were already in place, the concept of teaching children good health and safety habits at an early age became her passion. Not only would it impact the lives of the families, but it would also assist the healthcare providers. With over 20 years in development, the program is designed to empower children.

The program was tested in the Hayward school system, Middletown communities and now is in the Konocti Unified School District curriculum.

The program is endorsed by educators, hospitals, healthcare providers and civic organizations.

Our goal is to continue to make learning about health and safety enjoyable and entertaining. Colorfully illustrated materials feature a cast of likable and diverse characters which communicate information in a fun, non-threatening way.

When children are empowered, their excitement explodes as they are rewarded with The Keep Well Kids Club® Golden Bracelet – a symbol of their understanding and practice of “The Keys to Good Health”.
